About me

Nina Ostermann - Dolmetschen, Übersetzen, Sprachunterricht - Deutsch, Spanisch, Englisch

The golden thread

How people use language to share their thoughts and feelings with others has fascinated me ever since I was a child.

During my studies and numerous stays abroad, including in Spain, Mexico, South America and India, I have acquired an excellent command of my three working languages German, Spanich and English both in terms of grammar and creative usage.
Today, I am delighted to be able to facilitate communication between people, helping them to overcome language and cultural barriers.
In order to do so, in addition to my linguistic skill, I use empathy, my ability to interpret gestures and facial expressions, as well as keeping the overall overview while paying great attention to details.

Was mich an meiner Arbeit fasziniert

I enjoy speaking clearly and compellingly and I like the challenge of consistently finishing my sentences in interpreting. Like in a football match, speed often increases to a "sprint of words" and I like the challenge to keep the "essence of the message" under control and to pass it on safely.
I like to keep my own personality out of my work so that I can put myself in the position of the person I am interpreting. In doing so, I go on exciting dives into new worlds for the duration of a project – and enjoy returning back to myself again afterwards.
When translating, I enjoy what would probably be horrible for many other people: I like to work on the smallest details with precision, such as contract clauses. I want to know every little thing is correct.
By the way, neither football nor diving belong to my passions. Instead, I practice and teach "my" languages and yoga. Working as a yoga teacher is a wonderful complement to my work as a language service provider. For me, yoga is a useful resource to help me zoom in and out of the various texts and communication situations I am confronted with.
